.......your child....the answer to a dream!

WHO I AM AND WHAT I HOPE FOR…the answer to a dream

Hello! My name is Beth. Let me start by saying how excited and honored I am to be considered for adoption by you. You are bringing me a miracle, and I thank you for this opportunity to expand my family.  I am certain:  adopting a child  is the most important thing I will do with my life, and protecting and loving the child you are bringing into the world is an amazing gift.

I would like to adopt a little boy, girl, or siblings. I have no other children, so this will be my first. I intend to shower this child with love and devotion. I’ve prepared my home and life for this major change.

I have the maturity, emotional well being, willingness, time, flexibility in my work schedule, attention to detail, knowledge of human development, and strong desire to parent and love a child.  Those ingredients, coupled with my strong and devotional faith, hope, commitment, acceptance and perseverance, ensure we will grow together in creating the Henson family.

I am a single, African-American lesbian living in a suburb of Washington, D.C. The town where I live is called Takoma Park, MD, also known as “Azalea City.” This is a lush and green small community that borders Washington, DC. It feels more like a beautiful park than an active and thriving diverse community. I live on a tree-lined street dotted with beautiful single-family homes. I have a big back yard where my family, friends, and neighbors gather and relax.

I was born in Baltimore, Maryland and grew up in Columbia, Maryland.  I have the support of my loving parents who still live there.  My Mama and Dad are supportive of my lifestyle, and we spend a lot of time together. We enjoy going to art exhibits and musical performances, shopping, sharing meals together, and just hanging out. Both of my parents are retired public school teachers.

Where I grew up (Columbia, MD) was developed in the late ‘60s as one of the first planned communities in the US.  We moved there in the early ‘70s.  Columbia was designed to encourage racial, ethnic, and income equality.  It was very experimental at the time and instilled in me a genuine desire to learn about different people and cultures.

As a result of my family and that community, I have a passion for music, cooking, the arts, jewelry, travel, and cultural experiences.  I am enthusiastic about learning and am dedicated to continued personal growth and emotional wellness. I enjoy working out to stay fit, and I enjoy sweep rowing, and singing.

Hugo (Huey) and Baby are my sweet, medium-sized dogs. We have a love-fest every day!! I got them from the pound when they were pups and have loved them ever since.  Hugo is older now, but he loves playing with children. To be honest, they love anyone that will give them a treat or “rubbies” on their tummies.  They’re calm and submissive and enjoy laying in the sun in our wooded back yard, playing in the neighborhood, riding in the car, and going to the park for hikes.
